How To Solve a 11280 Error Message
When Order Entry and Office Manager (as well as other Point of Success add on products) are unable to connect to the database server, there are three main causes:
- A physical connection issue.
- Make sure the affected computer is connected to the network. Be sure to check all cables and connections to any appliance such as a router or switch. Test by navigating to File Explorer>Network. Make sure all computers in the network appear.
- Windows Firewall or other third party software is blocking ports 22007-22010.
- Temporarily disable the Windows firewall as well as any other third party anti-virus, firewall or anti-malware program. Then try to launch either Order Entry or Office Manager. Caution: Do not leave anti-virus or firewall software/settings in a disabled state for an extended period of time.
- The server’s demographics have changed sufficiently that Point of Success is unable to connect to the database server.
- Delete the POSDS.ini file. Beginning with Windows 7, the POSDS.ini file can be located in either one of two locations. Check both locations and delete the file when found. Here are the two locations:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Point of Success
- C:\Users(choose current user)\appdata\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files (x86)\Point of Success
